This client needed some additional garage space at this beautiful lakeside home in Prospect. The challenge was that the existing driveway seen in the before photos was built upon a retaining wall system that varied in height from 7 feet to 12 feet. The client also wanted to preserve open access to the space below which eliminated the potential to use a typical foundation wall system for support of the garage and concrete slab floor.
We worked with a structural engineer to design a base structure including steel columns/beams to support a clear span concrete slab in the Lite Deck brand Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) system. You can see some photos of this system being assembled in the progress photos. This type of construction allowed us to add the garage preserve the space below as open space.
In the photos of the finished project, you will notice the details of the garage exterior are convincingly matched to the existing home. In addition, great care was taken to match this client’s existing custom made deck and railing design. Landscaping elements to match the existing features, Pella Pro Line windows and carefully matched paint help to completely integrate the addition with the existing home.
